The shortest day in the longest year

On the other side of the world, under a thick blanket of fluffy white snow, a special family is remembering their daughter a year after she tragically left their lives, before she had even entered it. Another little life snatched by the cruel curse of stillbirth.

Lucia Paz would have been one year old today. She was born on 22 December 2008 - the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere.

I know where Lucia's family lives today is the shortest day of the year, but it has been the longest and most difficult year of their lives. Full of heartache, pain and so much grief.

But the year has also been filled with much love, laughter, friendship and healing. Lucia's mama Angie is like the glue that binds so much of this heartbroken community together with her wise and thoughtful words and insights in to life after babyloss.

Today I am remembering little Lucy with much love, here under the warm Australian sun.

I miss her with you, my lovely friend Angie. I wish she was here. I am sorry she is not.
